Service Overview
Some problems don’t need a three-month engagement. They need a working session with someone who has seen the pattern before, can ask the right questions, and can write down what they heard so your team can act on it. Micro-Consulting is a focused 90-minute deep-dive followed by a written decision brief—designed to unblock a specific call, not to scope a bigger project.
When to Book a Session
- You’re stuck on an architecture decision and the team is split
- Performance is degrading and you want a fresh diagnostic eye before you rewrite anything
- You’re evaluating a vendor, cloud service, database, or framework and want an outside read
- You have a technical review, investor meeting, or board presentation and want pre-flight coaching
- You’re post-incident and want a sanity check on the proposed fix
- You’re weighing build-vs-buy, monolith-vs-services, or a rewrite-vs-refactor call
How It Works
Step 1 – Share Context in Advance
Before the call, you send me the question, the relevant diagrams, repo access (or read-only snapshots), and whatever documents frame the problem. I come prepared—you don’t pay for ramp-up.
Step 2 – 90-Minute Working Session
A focused, structured video call. I ask hard questions, walk the team through trade-offs, and we land on a direction—or a small number of options with a clear decision framework.
Step 3 – Written Decision Brief
Within 48 hours, you get a one-to-two page written summary: the question, the recommendation, the reasoning, the risks, and a short list of concrete next steps. Your team can share it, push back on it, and act on it.
What You’ll Walk Away With
- A clear recommendation (or a short, ranked set of options)
- A written brief your team can circulate without having to summarize the call
- A quick-win list—two or three things you can try immediately
- Pointers to documentation, articles, or reference implementations worth reviewing
- The option to extend into a Project-Based engagement if the problem turns out to be bigger
Common Sessions
- “Should we migrate from X to Y, and if so, how do we sequence it?”
- “Our API is slow under load—where would you look first?”
- “We have two competing proposals for the same subsystem—which is stronger?”
- “We’re about to sign a vendor contract. Can you sanity-check the architecture?”
- “We’re presenting to the board on our platform strategy—can you pressure-test the deck?”
